NHCC is the host of the Breakaway! program for High School/Middle School students.

It is held on Wednesday afternoons, 1:40 p.m. – 2:40 p.m., during the school year.

Under New York State Law 109.2, one hour per week during school hours is allowed as Release Time for religious education. The purpose is to teach Christian values that will help shape character, develop responsibility, and promote respect for others.

Luke 2:52 says:

And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

Our three-fold goal is to help our youth:
a) Know God through Christ
b) Treat others respectfully
c) Make wise decisions.

Students walk over from the High School/Middle School to NHCC. The Breakaway Team is mature individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of young people. A variety of materials are used that deal with relevant topics such as self-esteem, leadership, tolerance, family issues, conflict resolution, peer pressure, drugs/alcohol, and dating. Participants have fun as they learn!
