Chandelier Story
In 2001, renovation to the existing church was underway to make it more attractive and functional. The plan was to replace 6 lights in the sanctuary with chandeliers. At $65 each, the church had money for 3 chandeliers, but needed money for 3 more. During the service on Nov. 11, 2001, Pastor Larry announced the challenge for funding 3 additional chandeliers. It was his hope that he could go to Kris Beers, Treasurer, within 15 minutes after the service ended, and hear her say that money had been committed. It didn’t take 15 minutes. Within 5 minutes, Kris went to Pastor Larry and told him that we had all the money for the remaining 3 chandeliers. A 4th person gave money anyway. It was discovered later that 2 other people wanted to buy a light but there weren’t any left. The chandelier story became a “symbol” of the generosity of the people that repeated itself for years to come!
