Dual Pastorate of Jack Steele and Larry Light

Jack Steele and Larry Light were appointed pastors in September 1979.  The New York Conference planned to appoint Steele and Light to two different churches.  About two weeks before the appointment, Supt. Richard Gabriel called and said there was only one church available and would they be willing to share the appointment until another church opened up.  Rev. Olver and Rev. Shellhas were still in the area and provided mentoring and guidance to these two young pastors who had just graduated from college.  They were in Walton one year and nine months and then went to Florida to continue their education, both obtaining Masters Degrees.
